Magnetic Particle Testing

Magnetic Particle Testing is a Non-Destructive Testing method for detection of cracks on or just below the surface of ferrous metals. It is a quick and reliable technique for detection and location of example surface cracks.

Noble Engineering Services utilises Magnetic Particle Testing for all ferrous metals, such as carbon steel, low-alloy and cast iron. The main use of Magnetic Particle Testing is for welds and heat affected zones.

Dye Penetrant Inspection

Liquid penetrant testing is a non-destructive method used to detect surface breaking defects in any nonporous material. Liquid penetrant is applied to the surface and is drawn into defects by capillary action. Once a preset dwell time has passed, excess penetrant is removed and developer applied to draw out penetrant from the defects. Visual inspection is then performed.

Dye penetrant testing should be carried out on load bearing weld on a regular basis, helping to identify in advance the potential for failure in the weld reducing the risk of injury to personnel and damage to equipment.

UT penetrates materials with ultra-high frequency sound vibrations and measures return of sound waves to evaluate material thickness and internal integrity.

Using state-of-the-art technology and instrumentation, sound emitted from transducers allows our skilled technicians to measure and evaluate internal discontinuities that could indicate material flaws which may otherwise go undetected.

Ultrasonic testing is an accurate, cost-efficient, and rapid method for evaluating internal quality and thickness of materials that can be performed in the field and the workshop.
